I want to meet the BearSYNOPSIS: The filmed performance stemmed from a ritual conceived by the artist, Stefania Becheanu, which involved the village women sewing words onto a piece of fabric, imbuing it with their collective stories and experiences. This fabric, of a deep red hue, transforms into a celebration of sisterhood, an expression of femininity, and a declaration of unwavering collective resilience. Stefania initiates a dance with the young village women, attempting to confront the bear and amplify its strength in the company of others, symbolizing that the darkness of the forest diminishes at the edges of shared experiences. The integration of sound, inspired by traditional sources such as the village church's "toaca", adds depth to the performance, creating an atmosphere of mystery and intrigue. Thus, Stefania’s project captures a compelling story that elegantly weaves together themes of courage, nature, community, and self-discovery.
